Salmon: Wild vs. Farm [infographic]

For the past year, I have taken red meat and chicken out of my diet. I quite cold turkey, and it wasn’t hard really. I suppose knowing that a meatless life equaled a healthier one helped motivate me to say no to the meat. However, in order to still get some protein into my diet, I continue to eat fish. However, that got me thinking, just how bad are farm bred fish?

Today’s infographic gives a really great over view of what goes into wild and farm bred salmon. While I’m aware that all food these days contain pesticides and chemicals, I am saddened to see that farm salmon does indeed contain chemicals. I wonder how our bodies would benefit from ingesting pure, organic foods, free of pesticides and chemicals? Perhaps another New Years challenge can be to try and eat organic. I’m sure all of our bodies will benefit from it! [via]

The Internet, a Decade Later [infographic]

The times they are a-changin. Ten years ago, in 2002, as a young middle schooler, I would sit on my parent’s computer waiting for the dial-up internet to, well, dial. Now, in early 2013, I sit on my laptop typing away on the internet. Which moves faster than light. Today, there are 2.27 billion internet users, 555 million websites and pages load in a meager 6 seconds.

What difference does a decade make? A decade can change everything. The scene has changed and businesses have adapted. Well, they have adapted or crashed and burned. Companies who refuse to embrace the digital age have struggled. As the internet adapts, smart companies stay ahead of the curve and use the advancements to their advantage. Stay connected, stay relevant. Here’s to another ten years, full of progress! [Via]

Does It Really Ad Up? [Infographic]

In almost any given form of media one will probably run across some form of advertisement. Ads are on social media, they saturate television and the Internet and they show up in movies as well, so with all of the ads that we see every day the question needs to be asked: does anyone really believe what they see in big-name advertisements? According to a study by market researchers Lab42, the answer is no. Among the 500 participants surveyed, only 3% believed that the information given by advertisements was “very accurate,” while 57% believed that the ads were “somewhat exaggerated.”

Today’s infographic from Mashable.com shows consumer reception of ads, and people seem to be less than impressed. Out of those surveyed, 87% thought that cleaning ads were photoshopped, while 96% thought that weight-loss ads were photoshopped. The most important factor in making an ad memorable, it seems, is making it funny since 73% said that funny ads made them more memorable (and more likely to buy the product).

The Facts About Poop [infographic]

Working with kids, poop is a word that is unarguably in my vocabulary. It’s also something I feel should be able to be discussed more in our culture, no matter one’s sex and/or gender. Today’s infographic tells you some things to look out for as well as some fun facts about our favorite four-letter palindrome.

The infographic’s connections with history and nature make it that much cooler. I definitely didn’t know that some battles during WWII might have been decided because of some “dung” mischievously planted by the British. So awesome. And the fact about the breadth of elephants’ stool makes us realize what tiny creatures we are, as they can loose a child’s worth of bowels per day.

So, we should not be afraid of the things we release from our bodies, instead let us see the beauty in poop. We are, in fact, animals and should not try to disguise ourselves as otherwise. But, since we have not developed with nature, some of our diet might not make sense to our bodies that work oh so hard to keep us going. Watch out for all the crazy-colored ones, y’all and let this Sunday be the most fun of them all! [via]

Quack y’all, ducks are crazy! There is no better infographic for a Saturday afternoon than one strictly about ducks. I have expanded my duck knowledge quite a bit today and I really think you will benefit from said knowledge as well.

Do all you guys know of that show that’s called Duck Masters or something and these millionaire hicks do whatever they want? Well none of that bullshit will be in today’s infographic. It is exclusively duck facts and even a little bit of humor (make sure to check out the graph showing duck existence on earth).

Well I’m going to shut up and let your mind be blown. Long live ducks! [Via]
