NFL Fun Facts [infographic]

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Football is back, and I’m loving it. Today’s infographic is dedicated to everyone else who goes crazy for football season.

So how about them Cowboys? Believe it or not, I am a Cowboys fan and always will be through the thick and the thin. Tony Romo has me in a love/hate relationship, and should probably win an award for the player most likely to disappoint.

The facts in today’s infographic definitely go outside the box. I never would have thought about the price of putting the yellow line on television…it seems a little steep to be honest. It’s also interesting to note how much football has grown…a 5’1″ player would be absolutely crushed in today’s game.

Last I checked, the odds for the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl are 100:1. So if you have a couple of dollars to spare, you should probably drop them on the Cowboys, because they are going to win the Super Bowl. [Via]

The Law School Bubble [infographic]

I have worked full-time for two years since graduation, and I will admit that sometimes I give in to victim mentality and wish it was 1995. I don’t remember everything from “Bring Your Daughter To Work” day, but I do recall my dad’s Hawaiian Luau Friday, swag embroidered with his company name, and his built in stock options. Fast-forward to today, and things look pretty bleak.

This infographic illustrates just one of the many industries feeling the pinch, the hallowed legal profession. As much as television still portrays the golden days of the profession when a law degree almost guaranteed a job, the infographic below, and several trend articles in the New York Times and other outlets beg to differ. It seems that while both law school tuition and application numbers are increasing, demand for lawyers and their average salaries are decreasing. This is not good news for anyone taking out loans (hello, majority) to get their J.D.

So where does that leave prospective lawyers? The information in the infographic below is crucial for anyone considering going to law school, but it doesn’t change the facts for the population that attend law school for one reason: their passion for law. For those people, going to law school isn’t just a way to a guaranteed job, make big money or wait out the recession. And in the end, those people, the ones with a passion for the profession, are the ones I want handling my legal issues. [Via]

For the Love of Facebook [infographic]

Facebook, one of the social media crazes of our generation, is one of the outlets in which we create an online presence. And as with our reality, online lives can get complicated and messy. With the majority of Facebook users being late teens, early adults, our busy social and personal lives are being put online through these profiles. While it all seems like fun and games, we hardly ever think about how these online profiles affect ourselves and our relationships.

Self esteem and social adjustment are generally seen to be increased by Facebook, due to social interaction and a space to create a presence and voice for oneself. It can be detrimental, however, when users begin checking their own profile constantly and there can be negative effects on your etiquette, mood, contacts and and worrying about updates.

Facebook also impacts romantic relationships. Yes Facebook is a place to “officially” proclaim your love, a place to potentially meet new partners, but it is also a place that can harm your relationship. Jealousy and insecurities can be fostered by seeing communication between your partner and another person and it can keep you attached to past lovers by keeping up with their activity or allowing them to see or post on your profile.

All in all, while Facebook is a good place to connect with friends and family, creating a healthy balance will let you be able to have a happy online presence.

With the rise of the smart phone there was the rise of the app, more importantly the gaming app. One of the more popular gaming apps out there is Angry Birds. Drawing in millions of dollars along with several different kinds of merchandising opportunities. As an android user I get to enjoy the game for free, unfortunately I haven’t taken full advantage of this and have only played them a few times. However, those times I did play I enjoyed it, it’s a mindless way to pass the time. Isn’t it great that our phones can do so much these days? I never leave home without it, I’m more likely to leave my wallet behind than my phone.

Today’s infographic The Global Appeal of Angry Birds: A story of psychology, sociology and addiction present us with some pretty cool facts. One of the things that makes Angry Birds so addictive is its simplicity, which we all seem to be enjoying these days. Angry Birds has been downloaded over 300 million times and is predicted to top 1 billion downloads with 3 different games in the series.

Hope today’s infographic helps to feed that Angry Birds addiction you may have. Don’t worry there are worse things you could be addicted to. After all two of the top feelings associated with playing Angry Birds are joy and relaxation, which sound pretty good to me. [via]
