Not only is Easter a Catholic holiday, it is also another opportunity for corporate America to cash in the sacred day. Valentines was not even over before Easter candy and pastel colored bunnies and chicks lined the aisles. How much do American’s spend on the sweet treats that are being blown up in our faces each Easter?

According to today’s infographic, American’s spent 14.7 billion on Easter candy last year, 70% of that candy being chocolate. Believe it or not, that is more chocolate than what is bought during Valentine’s Day. My absolute favorite Easter candy is Peeps. It’s a love my mom and I share. Each Easter I go crazy and stock up to last me half a year. According to today’s infographic, over 4 million of the fluffy goodies are made each day.  This weekend, don’t feel guilty about buying Easter candy, both you and corporate America gain from your sweet purchases. Save Big on Your Mortgage in Three Simple Steps [infographic]

The real-estate business is serious in America. After the housing bubble burst a few years ago the housing market has been in a lull. Down here in central Texas we haven’t seen near the extent of the housing problems like those in Detroit, but our market is definitely still for the buyer.

Especially in today’s market, buying a house could be a very good investment – if you get the right mortgage. A mortgage shouldn’t be something you pay every month. It is an adjustable note payable depending on how you plan out your payments. Lump sum and rapid bi-weekly payments can help take years off of your mortgage. Lump sum payments are applied directly to your principle, lowering your interest and possibly saving thousands.

Refinance your mortgage, especially if you are quiet a few years into it. Don’t be passive – research ways to better your mortgage situation to make sure you are on the way to owning your home outright. [RateSupermarket]

The Empire State Building [infographic]

I’ve never been to the Empire State Building, but beneath the tons of bricks are a lot of cool facts. The UT Tower in Austin serves as the tall, honorable building in my life. I still hope to get to New York, because I’m sure their skyscrapers are quite mightier. I think it’s a little crazy to have 73 elevators in one building. But I guess that’s better than the time I got stuck at a beach hotel with 20+ floors and 1 elevator.

The English Language School in New York is located in the Empire State Building, and helps non-English speakers learn our tongue. What a cool place to take classes especially if you are just arriving from a foreign country.

The Top 10 Great Inventions From Ireland [infographic]

If I were to tell you one place spawned the creation of color photography, chocolate milk, and soda, I don’t know how likely you would be to guess Ireland. But that’s the place.

Irish inventors have a nice list of things they’ve contributed to mankind. On top of the previously mentioned items, we can add the submarine, modern chemistry, Guiness, the armored tank, aircraft ejection seat, rubber soles, and the atomic bomb. Quite a contribution, but not unexpected from a country nicknamed “the land of saints and scholars”.

Take some time to read over the infographic and make sure to make good use of all the great things given to us by the emerald isle! [Via]

Battle of the Beers [infographic]

There is no denying the fact that beer is good. And that I love beer. And that most of the people I know love beer. There is also no denying the fact that beer is known to cause a “beer gut,” which is my nightmare. Although I am cautious about the amount of beer related calories I consume, I don’t really let it affect my drinking habits as much as I should. And I cut soda out of my diet, so I consider it compensated. But I haven’t thought about the potential health benefits. Lucky this infographic shines some light on the good things (besides memories) that come from a beer filled night.

While guinness has more calories than most light beer, the alcohol content is much higher so it may even out. And a pint of orange juice has even more calories, but i suppose the vitamins and minerals may weigh a little higher than having a higher blood alcohol content. On to the health benefits of beer. According to this infographic, beer contains killing off some bacteria that cause acne, contains minerals that help fight osteoporosis. Guinness contains antioxidants that help prevent the clogging of arteries and for maximum benefit you should drink one pint a day. Yes please!

So read up on health benefits, how long it takes to burn off your beer and keep on having a good time. [Via]
