The Art and Science of S’mores [infographic]

It is September, two days until the first day of autumn, and it is still in the 90s in Austin, Texas. So, in an act of rebellion against the unrelenting summery weather, here is an infographic that brings to mind campfires and crisp fall nights. To borrow and shamelessly adjust the mantra from Field of Dreams, “If you build it, [cooler climes] will come…”

This infographic has a delightful topic (after all, who can resist the opportunity to combine graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallow together in one bite?), and the presentation is clean and direct. The history of S’mores is detailed, as are techniques for roasting and assembling them.

Warning: this infographic may induce a strong craving for S’mores and an inexplicable desire to shop at REI. [Via]

Negotiation Station [infographic]

The real world seems so scary to us undergrads. Once we leave this school time bubble real life sets in. And with real life comes real responsibilities, real bills and a really big need for money. And for once this money isn’t coming from our parents, grand parents or financial aid. We are stranded with our education and our ambition.

This insightful infographic peers into the very important reality of salary, and more importantly salary negotiation. Surviving in this tight economy is a necessity, and negotiating your salary before January, June and July is crucial since those are the months where most raises are given.

And while money is essential for survival, it is happiness that is really at the core of living. In a Princeton study comparing job satisfaction to income level, a positive correlation between job satisfaction and salary only exists up until the $75,000 mark. In my opinion, the moral behind this infographic is to find a job you love, negotiate for a salary of $75,000 during January, June or July and live happily ever after. [Via]

Woo! I had a great weekend painted my bike and got to go to ACL (Austin City Limits) on Sunday. Unfortunately I missed Chiddy Bang, but did get to see Fleet Foxes and Arcade Fire, both of which were good. Who was your favorite act at ACL? If you went that is. Well now it’s Monday and reality is settling in, no more being outside and having to worry about nothing but watching bands. It’s time to go to class and work, oh the joys of the workweek. Lucky for you though, today is the day we debut our first original infographic!

To make sure your week starts off nice and cheery today’s infographic How will you die? presents the most likely way you will die depending on race, gender, and age. If you are a 21 year old Hispanic like me, we are most likely to die of unintentional injury which according to today’s infographic is most likely to be a car accident. If you are 65 or older, no matter your ethnicity, you are most likely to die from heart disease, congratulations.

Thanks to our partner infographic world for helping with the creation of today’s infographic. Enjoy and share! How will you die?

NFL Fun Facts [infographic]

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Football is back, and I’m loving it. Today’s infographic is dedicated to everyone else who goes crazy for football season.

So how about them Cowboys? Believe it or not, I am a Cowboys fan and always will be through the thick and the thin. Tony Romo has me in a love/hate relationship, and should probably win an award for the player most likely to disappoint.

The facts in today’s infographic definitely go outside the box. I never would have thought about the price of putting the yellow line on television…it seems a little steep to be honest. It’s also interesting to note how much football has grown…a 5’1″ player would be absolutely crushed in today’s game.

Last I checked, the odds for the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl are 100:1. So if you have a couple of dollars to spare, you should probably drop them on the Cowboys, because they are going to win the Super Bowl. [Via]
