TSA: Grope & Pillage [infographic]

The Transportation Security Administration has been around for the last decade and I’ve never read a positive news article about them. It isn’t that I’m avoiding these articles, its that there just aren’t any. Try it yourself: go to Google News and search for TSA. Some of the most recent articles are titled ‘TSA body scanners’ apparent flaw’ and ‘TSA pats down toddler in wheelchair’. Just a few weeks ago the new full body scanners were proved to be practically useless. This isn’t the first time the TSA has missed the boat either…

Back in 2009 the TSA spent $36 million on bomb-detecting puffer machines. The machines proved useless because humidity and dust would make them malfunction. The few machines deployed ‘puffed’ air at passengers for months until they were finally retired to sit in a warehouse.

According to this infographic, seven out of ten weapons get by screeners. After ten years and 60 billion dollars the Transportation Security Administration can only stop 30% of potential threats? This is a disgrace. This organization has failed at its goal and has taken the airline companies down with it. The TSA needs to change their ways to be less intrusive. Imagine if the money thrown away on air-puff bomb detectors and nude body scanners was put toward streamlining the security process, creating a fun, safe and efficient way to board the plane. [Via]

The TSA needs to change their ways to be less intrusive.

That’s not going far enough. The agency needs to be shut down, every single one of the “agents” put out of a job. The TSA is utterly worthless; the only reason the 9/11 hijackers got away with it was because at the time, plane jackings usually resulted in being diverted to some third world country, not being used as flying missiles. Every single time a terrorist has attempted to hijack or blow up a plane since they have been beat down by passengers. In other words, passengers have stopped far more terrorists than the TSA, who to date have not caught a single damn terrorist.

Disband the TSA; free the skies.

Yet another example of government inefficiency.  Simple solution, shut down the TSA and let each airport handle their own security.  Cheaper, more efficient and safer too!  And will help cut the federal budget….Winner all the way around.

The problem with aircraft-bomb terrorism was solved the moment protocol was reversed to advocate immediate suppression of the terrorists onboard. The reason 911 happened is because previous protocol mandated placating the terrorists and giving them anything they wanted, and usually they landed in Cuba, made some political statement and disappeared. The second it was realized that the goal was to capture control of the plane and fly it into a ground target, it became easy to prevent this from ever happening again, simply by not rolling over and giving them everything they demand just because they hold a sharpened plastic spoon to the flight attendant’s throat or something. The most a modern hijacker can accomplish today assuming only this mindset change and no other security precautions, is messing up a few passengers or crew. Seizing the cockpit is almost impossible, and even if they do fighting it out between the crew and passenger vigilantes might result in a crash or steep dive or riotous injuries, but the ability to simply walk into a plane with a Stanley knife and destroy a massive ground target is essentially nonexistent and has been from 9/11 onward.

Some tightened security, like profiling etc, is warranted, but the TSA is just expensive window dressing and a giant political scam.

Tell the administration to withhold funding from TSA until they respect the Constitution and the public:

    http://wh.gov/RPx

    1. Remove and destroy all imaging machines that potentially can “see” under our clothing.
    2. Cease and desist all invasive patdowns that involve touching genitalia unless there is probable cause to believe that the individual has committed a crime.
    3. Cease immediately harassment of people who assert their constitutional rights during airport screening.

    Thanks for signing.
