Before some of you all read today’s infographic, remember there are two sides to every argument. I’ll be the first to say this infographic heavily leans to one view: pro-gun. Tomorrow I’ll be posting an anti-gun infographic, stay tuned in. Today I’ll take a look at some of the facts included in this graphic that I believe won’t conceive much argument. Tomorrow I’ll touch on the points that are shrouded with controversy.
Let’s take a look at the comparison made between the police and the armed citizen. There are 100x more gun toting citizens in American than police officers. According to this infographic, the citizen’s error rate is only 2%, 9% less than that of a trained officer. This seems awfully fishy, but with so many officer involved shootings in the news these days, it may not be far from the truth.
The average deaths of a shooting rampaged stopped by a gun wielding citizen is also extreamly lower than that of an officer. Remember though, citizens aren’t rushing to the scene from across town. When a citizen stops a rampage they are usually a witness from the start, being to react extreamly fast.
Gun ownership and prevalence will always be a hot topic in our country. Look out tomorrow for our anti-gun infographic.
