Music To Your Ears

By | source:Here Sep 6th, 2020

We all love music. The type of music that we prefer may differ, but all of us react to our favorite tunes. Humans are wired to respond to rhythm and repetition. When a catchy tune plays, we’re hard-pressed not to tap our feet or sway in time. We hum, we whistle, we clap, we sing.

The love of music goes back to the most primitive civilizations. The music you prefer is largely dependent on your background and culture. Music helps you to remember the best times in your life. Researchers can even get a reaction from people who suffer from Alzheimer’s when they hear their favorite music played. And for most of us, a song can bring back vivid memories of happy and poignant times.

Ever heard of the Mozart Effect? It is the belief that children who listen to Mozart’s music become more intelligent. The term was coined in 1991 and set off a whole lot of additional research that in the end proved that any type of music could improve your spatial abilities. It seems, now, that the abilities have more to do with enjoyment and engagement than with the type of music played.

And if you want to get the most out of your exercise routine put on some loud music and exercise to the beat of your favorite tune.
