An increasingly interconnected and tolerant world has made travel mora accessible than ever, and women are taking advantage of it.
It should be noted that Visa has left out the fact that changing social norms mean that it is considered acceptable for a woman to travel alone in more cultures than ever before. Mix that with the age of marriage and childbirth being pushed back in many of those same cultures, and what you get is women with more time and freedom to explore the Earth. This coincides with the rise of technologies that make traveling and staying connected easier and cheaper than ever.
The internet makes finding cool places to go easier than ever. Zoom to any random place on Google Earth (that isn’t them middle of the ocean) and nine times out of ten you’ll be saying to yourself “Dang, I would like to go there.”
Traveling is awesome and I love it, but it can also be a hassle and a pain. Check out our Travel is a Pain infographic to avoid common causes of pain and physical stress while traveling.
