Droughts have seriously affected different aspects of geography in different regions of the world.
As California is currently undergoing its fourth year of drought, Governor Jerry Brown declared a drought State of Emergency in January. Both reservoirs and ground water supplies are running dry creating a serious problem for residents, wildlife, and farmers.
Earlier this month, the Los Angeles Reservoir turned into one giant ball pit. There were 20,000 black plastic shade balls released into the reservoir hoping to help with water conservation and quality. According to this infographic, the shade balls are projected to reduce water evaporation by 90% which would mean 300 million gallons of water savings annually. It’s crazy to think that millions of these 4-inch-diameter balls can make a huge difference during this catastrophic drought!
