It’s no secret that humans love having pets of all shapes and sizes, and turn to them for comfort and entertainment.
We feel like having a pet makes us happier and science and statistics agree. The fact that pets bring high blood pressure down better than medication seems like a pretty big deal, and if I ever have blood pressure problems I will get be getting a dog or cat stat. Hopefully, I don’t have to wait for illness to be a reason to get a pet.
Therapy animals make a lot of sense. If interacting with friendly animals conveys so much benefit, then making that interaction available to people who can’t keep a pet of their own, for whatever reason, sounds like an effective and fun form of therapy. That being said… “therapy wolves”? I don’t know about that. Didn’t we spend thousands of years breeding wolves into dogs so that they would be nice to us?
