UPDATE 2 :

More changes to the guide since it’s been first posted.  Thank you very much to all the “editors” for submitted corrections. Your help is much appreciated. LOTS of changes to this post based on comments/requests.

Don’t forget this is for the Game of Thrones television series NOT the books so PLEASE DO NOT post spoilers from the books in the comments.

Lastly, thank you for all the comments, retweets, reblogs, and likes…

Illustrated guide based on HBO’s Game of Thrones mini-site

WARNING! This guide is based on all the various character pages on HBO’s Game of Thrones guide. I simply combined it into a one page infographic. Most people consider it SPOILER FREE but some  (esp. those reading books) might consider information in this image as spoilers since it reveals all the names, backstory and relationships between the characters which occurred PRIOR to the events in the first episode of the HBO series. To view how information was revealed on the HBO show scroll down to Episode Specific Guides.

How All This Started:

I’m a huge fan of HBO’s new series Game of Thrones. I’ve anxiously anticipated the show since it’s been announced and simply can not get enough of it. In addition to viewing each episode TWICE I’ve spent countless hours on the HBO website looking through the character guides. There is a lot of back story for this show and the multitude of characters is almost overwhelming. Yesterday  I started doodling the different relationships between the houses… and before I knew it I was at the computer creating a full blown relationship tree. This hasn’t been an easy task due to the sheer volume of characters involved but I’ve had a lot of fun trying to come up with an easy to understand guide.

SOME NOTES / Explanations:

1. Concerning the relationship between Loras and Renly. This hasn’t been explored in the series and I’ve tried not to include any future spoilers. For now I’ve put double quotations around their icon=).
2. Concerning Direwolf Lady. This is included in the episode specific guide.
3. Colors. I’ve seen some comments about the color choices for the different houses. I picked colors that make sense to viewers of the show who have not read the books

  • Lannister – Yellow. Their symbol is a gold lion on a red background so yellow made the most sense.  Also the actors are blond and Jaime’s Armor is kind of yellow colored. Nothing in the show made me associate them with red.
  • Targaryen – Red. Red dragon is their symbol.
  • Stark -  Gray. Gray direwolf is their symbol. (OR GREY for you across the pond people ;)
  • Tully – Aqua. Fish is their symbol. Water = Aqua
  • Arryn – Dark Blue. Their emblem is a falcon with a moon on a dark blue background. Pretty straight forward.
  • Baratheon – Brown. A stag/deer is their symbol. Which I associate with brown.
  • Tyrell – Orange. Well I didn’t want to use another yellow so there wouldn’t be any confusion.
  • Greyjoy – Purple. It was the last color left in the rainbow. LOL! Well also squid made me think of purple.

Thanks for Stopping by & I hope you all enjoy my Game of Thrones Illustrated Guide.

    LOVE this!

  • MargaretM 09. May, 2011 at 6:05 pm

This is pretty great except that it’s House Greyjoy not with an A

    • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 09. May, 2011 at 6:22 pm

Thanks for that. Fixed now =)

      • Robert 11. May, 2011 at 11:32 am

        Still missing House Martell.

        • Robert 11. May, 2011 at 11:33 am

On the location guide, I mean.

        • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 11. May, 2011 at 12:16 pm

Thanks I just added that on. I don’t think they have been mentioned in the series yet right?

          • Adam 11. May, 2011 at 1:55 pm

Dorne is in the south, but since you specifically cite where Highgarden and Casterly Rock are, you might as well specify Sunspear rather than just the vague ‘Dorne’.

          • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 11. May, 2011 at 3:03 pm

            Done.

  • JasonA 09. May, 2011 at 7:33 pm

Gregor Clegane has a typo (Legane)… He is also banner man of house Lannister, not working with his Brother for Joffrey.
Ser is Jorah Mormont’s title not name.
Jon Arryn’s son is Robert not Robin.
Catelyn and Lysa Tully have a brother Edmure.

    Other than that – Brilliant!

    • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 09. May, 2011 at 8:20 pm

Thanks for those corrections Jason. I’ve just made those changes except for Robin.
I’ve been using the names HBO has assigned to the characters not the names in the books.
I believe they have changed Jon Arryn’s sons name to Robin so there wouldn’t be any confusion with Robert the King. That’s how he is listed in their guide. Unless that’s a mistake on their website.

      • JasonA 09. May, 2011 at 9:20 pm

OK… In the show Robert does say that the boy was named for him, i.e. true to the books.

      • dary 10. May, 2011 at 6:06 pm

It does appear that they’ve changed the name. Or at least on a post on George RR Martain’s blog it list’s the actor as playing Robin Ayrn. I’m sure the inspiration for the name change is Sansa’s nick name for him in the book “Sweet Robin” although mb it’s also just a nickname in the show and they use it in the credits to avoid confusion. We’ll see I guess..

        • dary 10. May, 2011 at 6:32 pm

Oh lol it says specifically on his blog “Lysa’s son has been renamed for the series. “Robin” instead of “Robert,” as in the books. He’s still Sweetrobin.”

  • Jeremy 10. May, 2011 at 12:49 pm

    Great work!

One other little spelling correction: Ser Barristan Selmy, not Baristan.

    • Sarah 10. May, 2011 at 2:20 pm

Joffrey – not Joffery. Awesome otherwise.

  • MKP 10. May, 2011 at 3:39 pm

This is so SO COOL! Well done. Linking in my blawg and will refer back frequently, I’m sure.

The next stop could be plotting their locations on the Westeros/Eastern maps, with dotted lines to show who’s sailing/riding/walking where :) When I watch with friends they get confused about WHERE everyone is at a given time, in relation to one another.

    • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 10. May, 2011 at 4:41 pm

      Thank you =)

And I’ve been thinking about the map myself. HBO has a pretty decent one except that you have to click each dot to know what is where. And only when it’s zoomed in. So stay tuned maybe I’ll do that before the next episode airs.

I wanna break down the character guide by each episode first. I think it would be neat to go back and see how the story progressed.

  • itchbay 11. May, 2011 at 1:00 am

This is really awesome! I can only imagine how confusing it would be for people just watching the series without having read the books. Even in the books, I had to flip back and forth to the appendix quite a bit to remember who everyone was and who they were related to.

    Really cool!

If my theory is correct, based off of the research I did at Kings Landing, I think you will find that Joffrey is actually the result of the incestuous relationship between the Lady Queen Cersei and her brother the Kingslayer Jaime Lannister rather than the trueborn air to Roberts throne as your chart suggests.

    Winter is coming.

    • Lukas 16. May, 2012 at 3:35 am

      Yeah that’s what I think

  • Rich 11. May, 2011 at 8:50 am

The flow is wrong on Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen. They belong under Jaime and Cersei.

    • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 11. May, 2011 at 9:11 am

THOSE ARE SPOILERS!!!! This has not been revealed in the series yet!

      • Adam 13. May, 2011 at 1:27 pm

agreed. tons of spoilers in this map for people that haven’t read the series yet. character revelations are a huge part of what makes this series so compelling and many of the most important ones are already outlined on the map. :(

        • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 13. May, 2011 at 3:34 pm

Trying to fix some of the spoiler problems right now… BUT you have to remember this guide is based on the Television Series NOT the books. So there is a lot of information revealed in different order.

  • stile 11. May, 2011 at 9:29 am

The quotation markss around Renly/Loras’s star are hilarious.

    • John 11. May, 2011 at 10:00 am

You should also know that “Septa” isn’t a name, it’s a title. Kind of like a nun or a priestess.

  • daveed 11. May, 2011 at 9:38 am

Any spoilers in these? I’ve only just started reading A Game of Thrones. HBO will have to wait until it comes out on DVD….

    • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 11. May, 2011 at 10:55 am

Don’t look at the map as it contains episode event locations… but the Guide itself IS spoiler free. I will create a separate version to update changes as the series continues.

  • bob 11. May, 2011 at 10:00 am

made my day! just started reading the first book and can’t wait to finish so i can (a) start the second and (b) start watching episodes.

  • John 11. May, 2011 at 10:23 am

You should also know that “Septa” isn’t a name, it’s a title. Kind of like a nun or a priestess.

    • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 11. May, 2011 at 10:47 am

I should have taken a screen shot of HBOs guide. It seems like now Septa is Septa Mordane. Unless it was like that the whole time and I missed it. I shall add that on then =)

  • rowe33 11. May, 2011 at 10:44 am

On the Locations Guide, should be “Seize him” instead of “Cease him” for the episode 4 event.

Also, “Roads” instead of “Roades” on the legend.

    Great work!

  • Iain 11. May, 2011 at 11:13 am

    Where’s the men’s bathroom?

  • Camilla 11. May, 2011 at 11:44 am

Excellent stuff! How do I print it?

    • James 11. May, 2011 at 12:01 pm

It should be Tully on the Houses Only infographic, not Tulley

  • Liberty Valance 11. May, 2011 at 11:47 am

Sansa’s direwolf “Lady” should have a “deceased” icon since Ned executed her at the end of episode 2. Excellent work!

  • Anony-mouse 11. May, 2011 at 11:55 am

The Hound and Ser Gregor should have a ‘nemisis/rival’ connection… no that is not a spoiler it is just their history even if it hasn’t been fully explained to the viewer before episode 4… (or book 2/3, depending on if you approve of episode 4′s added scenes)

Wow, these are really beautiful and fun. I hate to join the crowd of people pointing out small errors, but I will in the interest of improving the awesomeness of your designs. On the map, you have Bear Island under a Stark flag, when it should have its own bear flag. http://www.westeros.org/Citadel/Heraldry/Entry/House_Mormont/

Westeros.org is a great resource, especially their heraldry site: http://www.westeros.org/Citadel/Heraldry/

      • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 11. May, 2011 at 12:44 pm

Thank you for the link. I actually put the Stark’s banner there on purpose because when Jorah was telling Dany his story he said the Starks took his home. Should it be both?

        • Spork 11. May, 2011 at 1:19 pm

To be honest, I’m not sure how they’re going to play it out in the show, but in the book it remains in the Mormont family. Jorah’s sister becomes the Lady. Maybe when he said they took it from him, he was being figurative?

          • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 11. May, 2011 at 3:06 pm

Just checked HBO’s guide and they have both house emblems under it.
I still have to make icons for the other houses not yet mentioned I’ll add Mormont on next go.

          • Spork 11. May, 2011 at 3:17 pm

Ok, that makes sense, since the Mormonts are subject to House Stark. looking forward to the update. Also, did HBO create a graphic for it, or will you make one from scratch?

          • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 11. May, 2011 at 3:25 pm

They created one it seems but for now it’s very tiny next to Jorah’s name. It looks like a brown bear on a greenish background. The one on the map is not very big either and just black and white.

          • Spork 11. May, 2011 at 4:01 pm

Here’s an image I screen-capped from The Maester’s Path. Probably not any better than the HBO map image.

  • JimH 11. May, 2011 at 2:02 pm

I would say that if you are calling what Robb and Jon have a friendship than you have to say the same of Arya and Jon.

Also, it’s sort of a bum rap that Tyrion caused his mother’s death. His birth caused her death, something he has little say over.

    • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 11. May, 2011 at 2:48 pm

      Thanks for those notes.
I haven’t really noticed a friendship between Arya and Jon yet. But Jon specifically asks Tyrion to say hello to his brother for him. To me that showed he cared for his brother more than the rest of the children.

And I’ve added the icon for Tyrion causing his mothers death because he mentions in one of the episodes that his mother died in childbirth and hence his father hates him for it. I thought that was a relevant event to understand the dynamic between him and his father.

      • Jeremy 11. May, 2011 at 8:01 pm

Remember that Jon had Mikken the Blacksmith create the sword Needle for Arya before they left Winterfell.

“Stick them with the pointy end!”

      • Stubert 11. May, 2011 at 8:06 pm

I’ll second the Arya and Jon friendship. Jon didn’t have the option of asking Tyrion to say hello to Arya because she had already left Winterfell. Also, we have the scene where Jon gives Arya ‘Needle’ as a gift.

  • Dr Z 11. May, 2011 at 3:18 pm

Are you going to shade deceased direwolves to that of a clear outline that deceased people are shown with? If so, you’d need to change Lady’s from solid to clear. Or, is the clear direwolf ONLY used for Jon’s direwolf “Ghost”?

Aside from that, nice job on the whole page !!

  • BevansDesign 11. May, 2011 at 4:30 pm

Great graphics. Although, as much as I love how they look, I wish there were photos to look at too. It’d be cool to have a version where you can hover-over the characters to see a photo of them.

  • C. Robert Dimitri 11. May, 2011 at 5:29 pm

Minor nitpicks: “Grey Wind” with an E. “Shaggydog” is one word. I love those direwolves!

AWESOME!!! I LOVE THIS. IMAGINATION GOING NUTS!!!

    • Church 11. May, 2011 at 6:14 pm

Arya and Jory? Did I miss something implied in the books?

      • Jeremy 11. May, 2011 at 8:04 pm

Yeah, I’m not sure about that either. Also, “GreatJon” should be “Greatjon”. Keep up the good work, Magda!

  • HeruFeanor 11. May, 2011 at 8:26 pm

Utterly brilliant! I’m really looking forward to the episode-specific evolution.

As the various family trees get fleshed out, and the Small Council and the Court shift, I think you may have to settle for giving them icons to signify those positions instead of visually grouping them under a common background. Trying to imagine how to reshape things to fit Eddard on the council instead of Jon Arryn is already giving me a headache, and that doesn’t even touch on all the changes that happen later.

  • Dustin 11. May, 2011 at 8:52 pm

  • sara 11. May, 2011 at 11:52 pm

Bear Island should not be “Previously of House Mormont” because it is still in House Mormont. Jeor is Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, and Jorah is in exile… But they still have family, and Bear Island is ruled by Jeor’s sister Meage Mormont. I realize it’s not yet revealed in the TV series, but neither is House Mormont losing Bear Island.

Great Work, I absolutely enjoy this!

Where is the Blackfish Brynden Tully, should be next to Hoster?
And there are the Brothers of Balon Greyjoy Euron,Victarion and Aeron, otherwise absolutely great!
You could also add Khal Drogos Bloodriders.

It really gets complicated when you throw the Freys into the mix:)

      • Jeremy 12. May, 2011 at 5:33 am

I believe the producers said the Blackfish is not included in the show yet, at least for the first season.

I think ur doing a great job so far and it shows from the series cause till today I did not know that this was a series of books and was totally lost. I will defentily be back for catchup and to read everyones comments. I am going to start the books very soon too…But quick question for u and all the Thrones fans r the books in better detail then the show and worth reading if ur watching the shows at the same time. I love to read but its got to be intresting and just as dramatic as the show thats is how started with Twlight and fell in love with the books. But after the last 2wks of this series I wanted to know more to find out and got on the computer and found out alot from many, but so far this the best help I had found. GREAT JOB!!!! An can’t wait to see the new ones. :)

Hey, awesome stuff. One other connection you’ve missed (which has been discussed in the show) – Ser Jorah Mormont is the son of Lord Mormont who is the lord commander of the Nights Watch on the wall (his name is Jeor Mormont), you should consider adding him in.

But yeah, really nice graphic, well done.

One tiny detail, it’s “The Eyrie”, not just “Eyrie”. (HBO website map agrees.)

  • Jeremy 25. May, 2011 at 10:36 am

Just noticed one more minor correction:
Rhaenys Targaryen was the daughter of, not son of, Rhaegar Tarygaryn and Elia Martell.

  • Ashley 26. May, 2011 at 2:00 pm

This is truly beautiful…THANK YOU for your effort and enthusiasm! I was seduced by the HBO series and am now almost finished with the second book. Your relationship chart is a delightful thing! No corrections here, just THANK YOU.

  • Alys Karstark 31. May, 2011 at 1:42 am

Loved the guide and the drawing style :D Please do more as the show progresses.

Just a minor detail on the Westeros Map: If Bear Island has a Stark banner on top of its own banner, why doesn’t the Twins have a Tully banner over it? It won’t come as spoilerish anyway since House Frey has been mentioned as a Tully banner when Catelyn recruited some random men in the inn.

    • Edward 04. Jun, 2011 at 10:06 am

Wicked awesome. I only wish I could mouse over and get the characters face (as available).

    • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 08. Jun, 2011 at 12:03 pm

Good point. I’ll add that in. Thanks.

  • jellydonut 05. Jun, 2011 at 4:11 am

Highgarden and the Tyrells are green – you can use that color, its not been used elsewhere.

  • Brian 09. Jun, 2011 at 5:55 pm

    Wow, this is awesome! Thanks!

  • Travis 09. Jun, 2011 at 7:28 pm

Speaking as someone who has only seen the series and hasn’t read the books yet. Everything is awesome and makes sense, except i don’t understand what is with the red crown next to Tywin.

Ps: looking forward to future updates.

    • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 09. Jun, 2011 at 9:09 pm

That one is a little tricky. Tywin was the hand of the king for the Targaryen’s… Hence the little red crown next to his hand, LOL. It totally made sense to me but I guess not so much.

  • glanduin 13. Jun, 2011 at 8:45 am

Will you continue with this? Since episode 7 there is no update :(

  • JPablo 13. Jun, 2011 at 8:10 pm

and the 8 and 9 episodes???

    • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 14. Jun, 2011 at 11:17 am

The missing updates are coming tomorrow =) I’ve been very busy with work. Hope folks can still keep up =(

  • JK 20. Jun, 2011 at 7:34 am

The latest two episodes are great. A few minor things:

    1) Barristan Selmy is no longer head of the Kingsguard: Joffrey removed him at the end of Episode 8.
    2) Any chance of adding Lord Jeor Mormont, head of the Watch, or Maester Aemon (Targaryen), or Sam Tarly, to the Wall cast? Or any of the engagements to the Freys?
    3) Shouldn’t the death at Ep 9 caused by Joffrey be a dotted line? (Also, shouldn’t Ilyn Payne take some of the credit?)
    4) The Eyrie’s still just listed as “Eyrie”.

Minor things — this is great work, and a titanic endeavour!

  • cipri 20. Jun, 2011 at 12:41 pm

wll done! you help me alot!
    Is this final three?

  • Gabriel Valente 20. Jun, 2011 at 1:08 pm

    Great work!!! =D

Waiting for episode 10 update. you only need to remember of Barristan, as he is no longer captain of Kingsguard, but its awesome anyway

    • Gabriel Valente 21. Jun, 2011 at 5:13 pm

Since the episode was 2 days ago, I think there are no spoilers anymore, so, things that needed to go in the update:

      - Lancel relationship with Cersei
      - Mirriz Mar Dur killing Daenerys son
      - Danerys putting an end to Drogo
      - The dragons
      - Yoren taking care of Arya

It would also be nice to put Lord Commander Mormont of Nights Watch as Jorah father. =D

  • Yardboy 21. Jun, 2011 at 3:09 pm

    Nifty stuff, well done!

  • Jodi 21. Jun, 2011 at 10:16 pm

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this! It’s wonderful.I have been trying to read the first book, but I put it down and pick it back up so infrequently, that each time I get lost in who is who. I was thinking about writing down a family tree but this is so much better!!! I am totally printing it out!

  • Toibaobao 22. Jun, 2011 at 11:33 pm

This is awesome! Can’t wait for Episode 10 guide. :-)

  • mike 24. Jun, 2011 at 11:00 am

i notice you do not have a connection between lord mormont and his son jora, or no connection between the old blind man at castle back to daenerys

  • Lisa 25. Jun, 2011 at 7:31 pm

I honestly don’t think I would’ve been able to keep all the Houses and characters straight without this infographic(s). It’s so elegantly designed as well. Thank you!

  • Gel 26. Jun, 2011 at 3:09 am

Wow! This is great ^^ I often get confused with the characters but I love the show so I watch it over again. I so excited for season 2!!! XDDD

    • Gel 26. Jun, 2011 at 3:10 am

I forgot to say “THANK YOU SO MUCH!!” ^^

  • Carol 26. Jun, 2011 at 6:08 pm

Waiting for the episode 10 update, plz!!!!!!
    This guides are excellent. =)

  • Francisco 26. Jun, 2011 at 6:49 pm

Hi there! First of all, great job!
Just wanna make a simple correction. After Chapter 7 Jofrey, Myrcella and Tommen are known as Cersei and Ser Jaime sons (both Lannister), so they should be yellow as all Lannisters are. They are no more from the house of Baratheon.

    Keep the good work! ;)

  • Mr. Stark 02. Jul, 2011 at 4:57 pm

Waiting episode 10, hope you do this again in season 2. its really good. :)

  • Ed 04. Jul, 2011 at 9:34 am

I know the series has seemingly abandoned him, but please, please, please put Brydon “The Blackfish” Tully up there :P he is lord hosters younger brother and a complete badass

    • Ed 04. Jul, 2011 at 9:34 am

and he is a Ser, so it would be Ser Brydon Tully, “The Blackfish”

      • Carol 04. Jul, 2011 at 2:10 pm

I think that there is no real reason to put him in this guide, he has no important role in the 1st season. Otherwise the guide should have like 100 characters, and not only the important ones. ;)

  • Mr. Stark 05. Jul, 2011 at 4:45 pm

I know that I died, but I still think I deserve the last episode illustrated guide! :) ))

  • Luiz Felipe 05. Jul, 2011 at 11:21 pm

The new book has more info about Jon Snow’s mother. Might need to edit that in.

      • Gabriel Valente 25. Jul, 2011 at 8:22 am

But the guide is only about the tv show.

  • Matt 13. Aug, 2011 at 11:25 pm

Best info graphics I’ve seen for the series, capturing the complexity of the relationships and clarifying them too. Brilliant and obviously done with love. Major kudos to you.

  • Karen Newcombe 04. Sep, 2011 at 6:53 pm

Thanks for this great chart, it’s nearly impossible to read the books or watch the series without such a guide. I hope you’ll consider putting them together for the rest of the books.

  • Eskapi 23. Sep, 2011 at 7:17 am

Rhaenys, child of Rhaegar and Elia, was a girl. The icon shows a man.

  • Diana Scott 30. Sep, 2011 at 10:05 am

Thank you sooo much for this! We’ve passed this around amongst everyone in our company and it’s done a great deal in getting people to read the book and watch the show!

I am on the second book “A Clash of Kings” and even though there’s so many people pointing out little (sometimes irrelevant) mistakes on the first chart, I do so hope that you’ll consider doing one for the 2nd season or “A Clash of Kings”. As it stands, I am only in the 2nd chapter and I can see my confusion starting to take form.

    Anyway, thanks!!!!!

    Hi Magda

Your illustrated guide is the best I have ever seen.

I would like to improve some of my content by adding your images on my Game of Thrones Books website.

Do you allow me to use them(with the watermarks)?

If you have any regards or issues, just ask.

    Looking forward to your reply

  • King Size Platform Bed 13. Jan, 2012 at 5:56 am

  • JK 17. Jan, 2012 at 12:06 pm

I printed out this entire “tree” and kept w/me at all time while reading Book 1 (on my kindle) (after having watched the series but having forgotten much!) … Am just starting book 2 & am wondering if there is or will be anything similar for that or if it is not really needed? Either way, this is/was a wonderful resource to have!

Thank you for helping me understanding the whole context of the history.

I am sorry for spelling and grammar mistakes, I am from Brazil and so English is not my first language.

  • Daniel 02. Apr, 2012 at 12:10 pm

Hi Magda. What a fantastic guide you have here. I was wondering…would it be possible for you to provide a PDF version of the guide, please?

I was watching the premiere last night and noticed that having the images open on a laptop while watching was clunky so I tried looking at the guide images on both an iPad and Kindle Fire. The only issue here was of course the scaling of the PNGs. I’m hoping you can put up a version of the guide in a vector format, like PDF for us tablet users. That would be so awesome.

P.S. A couple of the guide images at 300dpi help a bit, but the others are still at 72dpi.

    • HauteSlides | Magda Maslowska 03. Apr, 2012 at 11:58 am

Thanks I will look into it. Seems like most of the PNGs look fine on my iPad though. Must be a few stray ones :)

  • Peter 08. Apr, 2012 at 2:17 pm

Have they mentioned Ser Brynden Tully in the T.V. series? He should have been at the Bloody gate in the Vale of Arryn. Anyways, he is Hoster Tully’s brother.

Yep I would love to see maps for season 2! these are awesome by the way

  • Ned's Other Bastard 10. Apr, 2012 at 7:46 am

Actually, red is referenced to the Lannister House in the show. First, their battle camps/tents are adorned with red, as is their royal guardsmen. In addition, there is an omen associated with the comet, in which the color red signifies a victory in battle for the Lannisters (during the scene in which Brahn and the northern lady are at the pool following his dream). Anyways, great work on the site!!

Since Dorna Lannister (random in my opinion) is included then maybe you should add that the lady of Highgarden/mother of Loras and Margaery Tyrell is Alerie Hightower.

  • GEEKisHot 06. May, 2012 at 8:30 pm

    You simply rooooooock!!
I’m not at all familiar w/ the functions of HauteSlides, but the guides you created are so beautiful and vividly understandable.

If not for your illustrated guides, I’ve forgotten what most characters do since I skimmed through the novel 8 years ago…(Seriously, I’ve seldom seen a relationship tree so resembling a blueprint of a machine work, and remembering all the names in foreign language added more confusion—-I was reading a Chinese-translated version back then…but honestly, the translated V. did the story a fair job). When I think it over now, I see the novel must be really fantastic to have driven most main character’s names and traits in my mind till today, and with your help, the lost parts were completed. Thanks again!

  • GEEKisHot 06. May, 2012 at 8:57 pm

Oh, I forgot to say, for my fellow fans of this series, check “Southparkstudios.com” on May 25th for the episode “Cartman Finds Love”(They’ve just taken this episode down after its debut week as pertaining to the rules, so plz exercise some patience)

In this episode, Mr.Garrison (the kids’ teacher) gave some “pro” intro to the relationship between houses in “Game of Thrones” during his teaching time (I’d rush into this class if I could). Really classy, don’t miss it!

  • Leo 07. May, 2012 at 10:09 am

Exelent work I love it ;)
Correction: The direwolf Lady was dead :(

  • Lisa 07. May, 2012 at 2:22 pm

    Great job!

Correction to House Greylord: Balon’s sister is Yara, not Asha. Osha is a wildling in the north captured by Robb Stark and is now servant to Bran in Winterfell.

    • Lisa 07. May, 2012 at 2:28 pm

Edit: Your guide is correct for the books, but in the HBO series, Asha Greylord’s name was changed to Yara to avoid confusion with Osha the wildling. :)

  • Bidlobox 07. May, 2012 at 4:11 pm

Magda, I’m very glad to see episode 10 update and hope you keep going with season 2! Just would like to kindly ask you to keep the original png ratio 1716 x 1188, it is better to read from it. Very thanks!

  • Deema 10. May, 2012 at 7:56 am

    Splendid.
Could we have one with actor’s faces? I get confused each time I watch the show.
    Thanks.

  • Mike 10. May, 2012 at 10:24 am

    1) Stannis is married but his wife cannot produce a son, thus he turn to Melisandre for a ghost/light child.
    2) Renly was killed by Stannis’ Ghost/light son thing.
    3) Shae is in love with Tyrion
    4) Lancel is also a lover of Cersei

  • Catherine 13. May, 2012 at 8:54 pm

  • anonymous hero 19. May, 2012 at 2:18 pm

So, some of the graphics are clear (ball and chain most likely means imprisoned… by whom?), but the chair is… ambiguous? Does that mean en-throned (for how long)? Also, it looked like you had the people set up in size categories, so we knew who was eldest, etc… but that appears to not be the case currently?

An interesting way to do this would be with different charts, depending on which episode you’re talking about, so reveals happen in a progression.

Also, your comment submission box doesn’t like long submissions and doesn’t scroll to allow you to see what you’re typing.

  • Isthmus 20. May, 2012 at 8:37 am

Elia under house Targaryen is actually a Martell from Dorne. She should be listed in a different color (like Kahl Drogo) or the Martell’s should be added.

    • Isthmus 20. May, 2012 at 8:39 am

House mormont should also include Joer Mormont (the Old Bear) as it’s head, along with his wife, and Jorah Mormont under them. There should be a line from the old bear to the wall.

  • Ally 30. May, 2012 at 3:55 am

Thanks for creating the family tree.. I’m sure it took you a lot of time. It helped me out a lot and it looks great. It’s very good and easy to understand with all the symbols. It was so hard to keep everyone’s relationships straight in my head. :) THANKS!
