If you live in the Midwest like I do, you know that season changes aren’t gradual transitions, but rather sudden metamorphoses that leave landscapes unrecognizable from what they looked like three months ago. As summer turned into fall, the lively sea of green became a medley of ocher’s and amber’s. To fully enjoy the sights of autumn, here is a guide to identifying leaves.
Among the more familiar leaves are the large fan like PlaneTree Maple’s or the jagged Slippery Elms.
Although most of the leaves look quite similar, a few stand and catch the eye. My personal favorites are the flamboyant Fullmoon Maple and the electric Silver Maple, resembling a lightning bolt with its yellow hue.
In the following few months, whenever you take a walk in the park or go leaf-watching, make sure to pay closer attention and identify the leaves as you go. Other than colorful leaves, fall is also known as the season of pumpkin and pumpkin spice. Click here to check out an infographic about the most popular pumpkin related products.
