With the NFL season upon us again, it might be time to look at how various quarterbacks have performed in the playoffs.
In today’s infographic, we take a look at which NFL quarterbacks have been the best performers in the playoffs. The infographic makes use of the NFL Quarterback Playoff Performance Index, which takes into account playoff wins, win percentage, passing yards, passing touchdowns, passes intercepted, passes completed, pass attempts, and passer rating for all NFL starting QBs with at least two playoff wins. Within this index, playoff wins were quadruple-weighted while all other statistics were weighted normally.
In a not so shocking turn of events, Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tops the list. While he plays for Tampa Bay now, the man many consider to be the GOAT accumulated his ridiculous playoff stats over twenty years with the New England Patriots. His total index score is a whopping 1036.17, almost 400 points higher than the runner-up: Niners great Joe Montana. In his twenty years in New England, the team achieved 30 playoff wins and Brady put up ridiculous stats. Trailing Brady are all-time greats like the previously-mentioned Montana, Peyton Manning, and Brett Favre.
