If you’re between the ages of 18 and 34, congrats –– you’re a millennial. While priorities differ from person to person, millennials do have some things in common. So what cities should you consider as you look for the perfect place to call home?
Surprisingly, Philadelphia tops NYC when it comes to qualities millennials look for. According to a recent survey, affordable rent, walkability, quality public transportation and being LGBTQ-friendly are all things young adults are looking for. Another unexpected priority: quality pizza.
Depending on what your priorities are, there are different takeaways here. If having a nearby beach or lake is a must, take Atlanta off your list. If affordable living is a necessity, say goodbye to Los Angeles and San Diego.
Seattle is the only city on the list with highly rated public schools, so millennials with young families might consider the Pacific Northwest. Unfortunately, not many of these big cities are walkable, either –– be prepared to Uber or drive everywhere if you move somewhere on the list.
