I can almost feel you rolling your eyes at me. And trust me, I completely understand. The thing I hate about the “Legalize it” movement sweeping the nation is that it attracts some of the most annoying people: pot-heads. Now, before we go any further, I would like to clarify that not every person that smokes marijuana is a pot-head. A pot-head only listens to music associated with smoking weed. He can tell you that the sativa in your pipe is no match for his new indica strain “straight from a Colorado dispensary where they treat the herb with some weird spice flown in from India, dude.” Â He’s an idiot. And unfortunately, we share the same opinion on legalization.
However, I assure you, my dear internet friends, that I am quite far from being a pot-head. The reason I think marijuana should be legalized for both medicinal, recreational and industrial use is because it is far less dangerous than most other drugs available to the public. It will cut back on crime, it will create jobs, and IT WILL LITERALLY HELP PEOPLE WITH SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEMS. It can be used to make paper, clothes and a million other things. Honestly, there is not a single good reason why it is so frowned upon.
I mean, let’s face it, it comes down to a moral disagreement. For years, people have been force-fed the idea that marijuana is absolutely awful for them, and they will burn in hell for using it. Now, I’m exaggerating of course, but many people view marijuana the same way they view meth. It’s a drug. Well, shoot. If that’s the case, caffeine is a drug. And we let our kids get addicted to that! But seriously, if you step back and really look at the situation, you will find that there is no good reason why cannabis or marijuana should be illegal. Not a single one. [via]
