Everyone knows that Star Wars takes place a long time ago in a galaxy far far away, but George Lucas was a liar.
I know that whenever I watch fantasy or science fiction films set in alternate universes or different planets it’s often difficult to remember that some of the scenes were actually filmed right here on Earth (I guess all scenes are technically filmed on earth, though CGI is kind of questionable due to it’s virtual nature). Here in this infographic we see the various places that created the Star Wars universe.
Here on Earth you can visit locations of Tatooine, Hoth, Yavin IV, Naboo, and even the moon of Endor (though there won’t be any cute little Ewoks to capture you). You can visit the locations of these ‘worlds’ respectively in Tunisia, Arizona,California, Central America, and Europe (Italy, Switzerland, Norway, and the UK).
As compared with the Lord of the Rings, which was all filmed mostly in New Zealand, Star Wars will take you all the way around the world. It might not be the easiest task to do on one vacation, but if you find yourself near any of these places during your lifetime, make an occasion to go to a galaxy far, far away.
