Does the idea of staying at the same job for 10 years make you cringe? You’re not alone. If you’re going to job-hop, put some thought into it.
The chances of being in the same job from the time you enter the workforce to the time you retire are at an all-time low. The generation (Millennials or whatever) currently entering the workforce is not at all enamoured with the idea of sticking with one job for years and doesn’t think that it should be expected. Unfortunately, the generation that is likely to have seniority, the Baby Boomers, is less likely to agree.
Job-hopping has its good points, though. Changing jobs often can give a feeling of freshness and progression even if you stay in the same role in the same industry. Even if you’re not leaving your job voluntarily, take advantage of making a change and do what you can to make it a change for the better.
